Preparing for the ACT and SAT is a lot like learning a new sport - it takes hard work, but it's rewarding. Regardless of where a student starts out, each can be coached to his or her own personal level of success. Like coaching a sport, we use a lot of positive encouragement while building fundamental skills, and we do everything in just the right amount to avoid the fatigue of overtraining.

Private Tutoring
$170 per hour
Two sessions per week, one quantitative and one verbal. Scheduling is flexible and curriculum is adapted to a student's individual needs on a weekly basis. No required number of sessions. Most students tend to come between 8 and 16 weeks depending on initial level and progress.

Semiprivate Tutoring
$125 per student
Work as a pair through the same program as our private tutoring. Usually two students come to us already paired up for this option. The test prep process can be a lot of fun with a friend as long as the two can work together productively (if you break into compulsive giggling, this might not be the option for you. You know who you are).

Small Group Tutoring
$1,800 8 week program
(Includes materials and exams)
Groups are limited to 4 students. They're social and affordable, but require students to take on a little more responsibility. Unlike private or semiprivate tutoring, our groups are a fixed 8 week program. Homework has to be completed early and submitted by email for review by the tutors to allow for individualized feedback and session planning.

Materials & Practice Exams ($200): Applies to all test prep tutoring options and includes printed curriculum and unlimited proctored practice tests. Note: fee already included in $1,800 group tutoring package.

Diagnostic Testing: Some students prefer to begin tutoring with a quantitative baseline determined through an initial test. While we do offer this, we don't think it's essential. We particularly do not recommend diagnostic testing for students who would likely be discouraged by taking an exam they're not prepared for. We usually determine an appropriate fit between the ACT and SAT as well as assessing a student's specific needs through preliminary discussions and the early stages of tutoring.
Proctored Practice Tests: Once a student has begun preparing for the ACT or SAT, proctored practice tests are an important part of the process. That's why we make sure to include our group tutoring students. Taking proctored tests in our office builds endurance and comfort level in completing a whole test in one sitting. For any students taking a proctored test, we waive the homework assignment that week to keep the workload steady. Practice tests are available every 3-4 weeks, finding that asking students to spend more Saturday mornings taking tests is an easy way to make them hate tutoring.

Non-students may sit for a proctored test, space permitting, for a $50 fee. To request a seat for a non-student, please contact us at info@pleasantvilleprep.com.
